UCLA Library Catalog

Use the UCLA Library Catalog to search for rare books, manuscript collections, University Archives collections, and Oral History Program transcripts.

Melvyl Catalog, UC Systemwide Catalog

Use Melvyl to search for rare books, manuscript collections, University Archives collections, and Oral History Program transcripts. Be aware, however, that Melvyl does not contain records for materials in process or on order. Always consult the UCLA Library Catalog for materials not found in Melvyl.

Online Archive of California (OAC)

The Online Archive of California (OAC) is a Web-accessible, digital gateway to information about materials such as manuscripts, photographs, and works of art held in libraries, museums, archives, and other institutions across California. The OAC allows patrons to view "finding aids," i.e., inventories of collection content, which provide detailed information about collection content that is readily accessible and searchable.

The Department of Special Collections has more than 1700 collections. The finding aids for more than 1400 of these collections are available on the OAC.

Finding Aid Database

A search of the OAC Site will not yet produce a complete list of Manuscripts and University Archives Collections. To search the complete list of these collections, consult the Finding Aid Database. In most cases, the Department maintains in-house printed finding aids for patron use.
