Designed as an introduction to academic integrity and intellectual property, Bruin Success with Less Stress aims to educate students about their role in the academic community and to help them make informed choices. It demonstrates how issues related to ethical uses of information and various media formats are relevant not only to their academic careers but also to their daily lives and may be useful as a catalyst for class discussions on these subjects.
Bruin Success with Less Stress is an interactive, student-centered learning experience guided by characters Carlos and Eddie, who represent typical college students. The tone is informal, and the quizzes are constructed to engage rather than assess users. Printable certificates of completion are available for each of the five major sections except that on citing and documenting sources, which instead allows users students to email their quiz results to whomever they choose.
Are your students copying and pasting indiscriminately from the Web for research assignments? Are you spending a lot of your own time teaching your students how to avoid plagiarism and do effective information research? Save time and help them avoid plagiarism and produce better research papers by pointing them to the Road to Research.
This self-help, online tutorial offers pretests, lessons, exercises, brief Flash movies, and quizzes on information researching and documentation. Instructors can tell students which modules to take, then can log in to see which students took pretests and quizzes and their scores and which did not. Students can also check their own scores. No pre-registration is required. If you have questions, contact Esther Grassian by email or by telephone at 310.206.4410.
