GE Cluster Program
Librarians at College Library have been involved as liaisons to GE clusters since the cluster program's inception. Each cluster is assigned a librarian who acts as a resource to the faculty and/or teaching fellows in order to support the fulfillment of their course learning outcomes. Helping students acquire and hone foundational research and information-seeking skills for successful academic careers and lifelong learning are critical goals for each liaison. Discussions with faculty have revealed that students often search the Web indiscriminately and use search engines like Google to find sources for scholarly research papers. Many also don't understand how to avoid plagiarizing by citing sources appropriately. Liaisons can help address these information-seeking and critical thinking issues; some ideas of possible strategies are available online. Liaisons are available to work with instructors to develop customized information/research strategies to help students succeed. |
