Authentic Witnesses: Manuscripts from the Rouse Collections
Through May 31
This exhibit of manuscripts from Richard and Mary Rouse's second gift to UCLA Library Special Collections has as its dominant theme manuscripts of interest for their texts. In superficial ways almost a flock of ugly ducklings, they have an importance that extends far beyond appearances. Ranging in date from the late ninth to the sixteenth centuries, the items are of French, German, Italian, and English origin. In Latin as well as European vernacular languages, the contents are written both in text scripts and in cursive.
