Research in Contemporary African-American ArtMost of the artists on your list will not have a whole book written about them, but they may be featured in an exhibition catalog, in essays within a more general book, or in periodical articles. Covers the literature from 1984 to the present. Some articles are available in full-text in both text and pdf format. Art Index Retrospective covers the same literature from 1929-1984. A bibliographic database covering modern and contemporary art and design and the history of photography. Headings include names, museum and gallery names, and new art terms not yet established as authoritative. The database contains abstracts of periodical articles, books, exhibition catalogs, and dissertations covering all aspects of art, ranging from research on major figures and movements from the late 19th century to the latest developments in the avant-garde, and including all types of decorative and applied art, photography and design. Bibliography of the History of Art (BHA) This database covers European and American art from late antiquity to the present. It indexes and abstracts art-related books, conference proceedings and dissertations, exhibition and dealer's catalogs, and articles from more than 2,500 periodicals. The online index covers 1973 to the present. Provides abstracts and sometimes full text for articles in 1500+ magazines and scholarly journals in all disciplines; covers 1988-present. Good for exhibition reviews and feature articles in non-art titles. Full text for the Los Angeles Times from 1985 to the present, the New York Times from 1851 to the current, and the Wall Street Journal from 1889 to the present. Information may vary considerably; often selected images and some biographical data are included . How to contact the artist is usually given. Some collective sites feature contemporary artists. Use any of the search engines , such as Google, on the Web to search for particular names.
