2006 Librarian of the Year
Victoria Steele, head of the Charles E. Young Research Library Department of Special Collections, was named the 2006 Librarian of the Year by the Librarians Association of the University of California, Los Angeles (LAUC-LA). The award recognized in particular her key role in the establishment of the Center for Primary Research and Training, which provides meaningful jobs for graduate students working with unprocessed or under-processed collections in their fields of study. LAUC is the University of California's primary organization for professional librarian and governance affairs.
New Korean Studies Librarian
JaEun Ku is the new Korean studies librarian in the Richard C. Rudolph East Asian Library. Ku comes to UCLA from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, where she was the Korean studies librarian. She has a doctorate in public management, a master's in public policy, and a bachelor's in public administration, all from from Ehwa Woman's University in Seoul, South Korea, and a master's in information science from Indiana University.
