Call for Librarian of the Year Nominations

The Librarians' Association of the University of California, Los Angeles (LAUC-LA) invites nominations for its 2006 Librarian of the Year award. The deadline for nominations is Friday, April 7, at 5 p.m.

The award recognizes excellence in librarianship, particularly as it furthers the teaching and research mission of UCLA and meets the intellectual, informational, and cultural needs of the university community. Candidates should be nominated for a specific contribution made during the last twelve to eighteen months. All UCLA librarians employed fifty percent time or more can be nominated.

To submit a nomination, email Elaine Shiner and indicate "Confidential" in the subject line. Include the nominee's name, the library where he/she works, and a description of how the nominee meets the criteria above. Further information and an online nomination form are also available on the Web site.

Supporting documentation can be submitted separately. Please be aware that a librarian's chances of winning the award are directly related to the quality of the documentation submitted to support his or her nomination.

Nominations and supporting materials will be kept strictly confidential. If you have questions, email Shiner or call her at 323.731.8529.

LAUC is the University of California's primary organization for professional librarian and governance affairs.
