Major Funding Received

The Library has recently received major funding from the Getty Foundation and from the David Bohnett Foundation.

The Getty Foundation, a program of the J. Paul Getty Trust, has given a grant of $190,000 for processing and cataloging five major collections that document art and architecture in Los Angeles during the twentieth century. The five collections are the archives of the UCLA School of Arts and the papers of art writer, critic, and curator Jules Langsner; architect Richard Neutra; artist Gordon Wagner; and artist June Wayne. Processing will include organizing each collection's contents and placing them in archival-quality containers for long-term storage and preservation.

The Bohnett Foundation has funded a collection endowment to support the acquisition of materials in lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender studies. The endowment will be used to acquire materials for the Charles E. Young Research Library's Department of Special Collections, which already houses related collections, including the personal papers of UCLA research psychologist Evelyn Hooker, Rudi Gernreich, Morris Kight, Paul Monette, Michael Nava, Susan Sontag, and Terry Wolverton.
