"Managing Intellectual Property" Symposium November 18The Library will host a symposium for faculty on managing their intellectual property on Friday, November 18. Planned in partnership with the Academic Senate, Office of Information Technology, Office of Intellectual Property, and Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research, the symposium will address implications for publishing and teaching in the digital age. The keynote address, "Copyright Myths and Realities," will be given by James Hilton, associate provost for Academic, Information, and Instructional Technology Affairs and interim university librarian at the University of Michigan. Daniel Greenstein, associate vice provost and university librarian at the California Digital Library, will then give an overview on scholarly communication in the UC context. The event will also feature breakout sessions in which attendees will be able to explore areas of specific interest such as undergraduate teaching, open-access publishing, copyright agreement negotiation, and working with scholarly societies.
