UCLA Library Staff NewsNew Head of Management LibraryRita Costello has been appointed as head of the Eugene and Maxine Rosenfeld Management Library and assistant director for user services in the Anderson School of Management's Computing and Information Services. She served in this role on an interim basis since January 2003; prior to that she was collection development librarian for the Management Library. New Head of Oral History ProgramTeresa Barnett has been appointed head of the UCLA Library's Oral History Program. She joined the program in 1987 as an editor and interviewer and became principal editor in 1995 and associate director in 2001. She has conducted numerous interviews in the areas of the visual arts, social activism, and UCLA university history. New Head of PSRMLHeidi Sandstrom has been appointed as associate director of the National Network of Libraries of Medicine, Pacific Southwest Region (NN/LM PSR). Its regional offices are housed in the Louise M. Darling Biomedical Library, which is the regional medical library. Sandstrom previously served the NN/LM PSR as network coordinator, consumer health information services coordinator, and interim associate director. 2004 Librarian of the YearGenie Guerard, manuscripts librarian in the Charles E. Young Research Library Department of Special Collections, was named the 2004 Librarian of the Year by the Librarians Association of the University of California, Los Angeles (LAUC). The award recognizes her work as overall manager for the UC-systemwide California Cultures project and as the UCLA Library's local manager for the project. LAUC is the University of California's primary organization for professional librarian and governance affairs. New Head of Library DevelopmentAmy Smith has joined the UCLA Library as director of development. She comes to UCLA from UC Riverside, where she was assistant dean of development for the College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences; prior to that she was director of development for the Madden Library at California State University, Fresno. Smith earned a master's degree in library service from Columbia University and was an editorial librarian at the Los Angeles Times and a reference librarian at Santa Monica College. |
