Changes in UC Image Databases

Several changes have taken place over the summer in UC-owned and -licensed image collections. The California Digital Library (CDL) has made these changes to ensure the best access to these extensive resources and to improved management and presentation tools.

The following collections are now hosted by ARTstor as "Institutional Collections": Saskia Art and Architecture, UC Berkeley Visual Resources, UCSB Visual Resources, and UCSC Library Instructional Collection. Several other collections have been incorporated into the ARTstor digital library, including the Hartill Archive of Architecture and Allied Arts.

Nineteen collections are available from the UC Image Service Web page. Their contents include images of architectural and documentary photographs; art and museum objects from Indonesia, Japan, and Taiwan; fashion plates from 1922; garden and landscape design materials; historical gravestone sculptures; historical maps; rare books and manuscripts; political promotional and commemorative items; and posters from Russia/Soviet Union and World War II.

The CDL maintains a Web site with information about UC Shared Images.

If you have questions or need assistance with any of these collections, contact Janine Henri, architecture, design, and digital services librarian, by phone at 310. 206.4587 or by email.
