New Social Sciences Librarian
Maria A. Jankowska has joined the Charles E. Young Research Library's Collections, Research, and Instructional Services as the subject specialist for economics and federal government information. She comes to UCLA from the University of Idaho Library, where she was a research reference librarian and head of government documents. She has an MLIS from UC Berkeley and an MS in business economics and PhD in economics from the Poznan University of Economics in Poland.

Head of College Library Named
Alison Armstrong, who joined the UCLA Library in September as head of undergraduate initiatives, has been named head of the College Library. She replaces Esther Grassian, who was serving as head on an interim basis. Armstrong will manage all College Library services and operations, including reference, information literacy, collection development, circulation and reserves, and public programming.

Data Archive Librarian Honored
Libbie Stephenson, director of the Social Science Data Archives in the Institute for Social Science Research, received the William H. Flanigan Award for distinguished service from the Inter-university Consortium for Political and Social Research (ICPSR). As part of its mission to support the social sciences, ICPSR honors individuals who have distinguished themselves in their service to the social science community.
